Coffee is at the heart of our mission at Veteran Roasters. Behind each bag of coffee, lives are being changed and veterans are able to get back on their own two feet after coming home from service. Behind the Bean explores everything behind the scenes that goes into your bag of Veteran Roasters Coffee.
Millions of Americans know November 11th as Veterans Day, a day to celebrate and honor those who have served in our Armed Forces. This day holds major significance and meaning for our veteran-owned and operated coffee company.
There are estimated to be over 40,000 homeless veterans on any given night, a staggering 14% of the homeless adult population in America. Many military occupations and trainings are not easily transferable to the civilian workforce - making the transition back to civilian life a difficult, uphill battle for many.
In 2017, Veteran Roasters Coffee was founded to help give veterans a place to work and regain their lives after service. Too many veterans find themselves void of support systems, opportunities, and passions. Our mission as a veteran-owned company is to fill these voids with meaningful work, connections with fellow veterans, and access to additional resources and guidance.
Our CEO and Managing Partner is a veteran himself. Branden Marty is a former helicopter pilot and Navy veteran who understands firsthand the experience of adjustment after serving. Branden and his partners saw the expanding coffee industry as the perfect place to begin their mission. Through training led by on of Chicago’s finest small-batch coffee roasters, Passion House Coffee Roasters, our veteran employees learn transferable skills during their time with Veteran Roasters that prepare them for continued career growth.
This Veterans Day, and every day, we honor our veteran team and give thanks for their service. We also take time to thank YOU for your support, because each purchase gives us the ability to offer continued employment to our dedicated crew members. Learn more about our amazing team of veterans here.
To all other veterans, we thank you for your service!
